“Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life. You give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love.” ~ Neil Gaiman

Street Lights - Kanye
I love this song.
I love it because its the same lyrics over and over and over.
I've been there.
A train of thought ..that remains the same..but through the nuance of emphasis..and intent..and delivery - the CONTENT can change.
I'm a Kanye Stan.
I think I am cause i can relate to the tortured artist aspect. An overfilled brain...spewing content to avoid exploding. Lyrics after the jump
let me know, do i still got time to grow
things aint always set in stone
with that being, let me know
let me
seems like
streetlights
glowing
happened to be
just like moments
passing,
in front of me
so i hopped in,
the cab and
i paid my fare, see
i know my, destination
but im just not there
all seems like
streetlights
glowing
happened to be
just like moments
passing,
in front of me
so i hopped in,
the cab and
i paid my fare, see
i know my, destination
but im just not there

Love means to commit oneself without guarantee, to give oneself completely in the hope that our love will produce love in the loved person. Love is an act of faith, and whoever is of little faith is of little love.
~ Erich Fromm
~ Erich Fromm
"I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves. They didn't bother to find out who and what I was. Instead they would invent a character for me. I wouldn't argue with them. They were obviously hating somebody I wasn't." -Marilyn Monroe
After a While
After a while you learn
The subtle difference between
Holding a hand and chaining a soul
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't always mean security.
And you begin to learn
That kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes ahead
With the grace of a woman
Not the grief of a child
And you learn
To build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is
Too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way
Of falling down in mid flight
After a while you learn
That even sunshine burns if you get too much
So you plant your own garden
And decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting
For someone to bring you flowers
And you learn
That you really can endure
That you are really strong
And you really do have worth
And you learn and you learn
With every good bye you learn.

Courage is fear that has said its prayers & decided to go forward anyway: Joyce Meyer
In my sky at twilight you are like a cloud
and your form and colour are the way I love them.
You are mine, mine, woman with sweet lips
and in your life my infinite dreams live.
The lamp of my soul dyes your feet,
the sour wine is sweeter on your lips,
oh reaper of my evening song,
how solitary dreams believe you to be mine!
You are mine, mine, I go shouting it to the afternoon's
wind, and the wind hauls on my widowed voice.
Huntress of the depth of my eyes, your plunder
stills your nocturnal regard as though it were water.
You are taken in the net of my music, my love,
and my nets of music are wide as the sky.
My soul is born on the shore of your eyes of mourning.
In your eyes of mourning the land of dreams begin.
Pablo Neruda

[Atticus in this song is the character from the book "To Kill A Mocking Bird" one of my favorite books ever]
The Noisettes are in charge of my life this month. Constant repeat!!
Their Lead singer is a chocolate sister [yay!], a bass player and writer for the band. Her style is ecclectic and amazing. I love them.
Each song on their album "Wild Young Hearts" resonates with me. Its music I would share. The imagery is so amazing...and the melody completely captures the melancholy of the lyrics. This Is Poetry..floating on a melody. I'm Inspired. I love it.
Press play to listen....
to kill a mockingbird
is to silence the song
that seduces you
why?
'cause you need that desire in your heart to survive
and you need that burning fire in your soul to know
you're still alive
so catch me when I fall
or did I dive at your delight?
in my heart I can fly
and I cannot disguise my love
there is no time
and I wouldn't know how
constellations tonight
are so fiercesomely bright, my love
I have no fear
I am Atticus now
remember what I lost like hot coals in my hand from days gone by
like Pandora adored the euphoria as her heart raced
like love lost you've got to try even in vain
feels like you'll go insane
but you're the hardest instrument that I've ever had to play
in my heart I can fly
and I cannot disguise my love
there is no time
and I wouldn't know how to
constellations tonight
are so fiercesomely bright, my love
I have no fear
I am Atticus now
so why don't we fall into the waves?
can't you see how my heart yearns to misbehave?
in my heart I can fly
and I cannot disguise my love
there is no time to
and I wouldn't know how
constellations tonight
are so fiercesomely bright, my love
I have no fear left
'cause I am Atticus now
so why don't we fall into the waves?
can't you see how my heart yearns to misbehave?
"and that's why i have to go back
to so many places
there to find myself
and constantly examine myself
with no witness but the moon
and then whistle with joy,
ambling over rocks and clods of earth,
with no task but to live,
with no family but the road."

someone who spends years patiently trying to discover the second being inside him, and the world that makes him who he is... Amid his shadows, he builds a new world with words... To write is to transform that inward gaze into words, to study the worlds into which we pass when we retire into ourselves, and to do so with patience, obstinacy, and joy."

Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived.

The Queen
by Neruda
I have named you queen.
There are taller ones than you, taller.
There are purer ones than you, purer.
There are lovelier ones than you, lovelier.
But you are the queen.
When you go through the streets
no one recognizes you.
No one sees your crystal crown , no one looks
at the carpet of red gold
that you tread as you pass,
the nonexistant carpet.
And when you appear
all the rivers sound
in my body, bells
shake the sky,
and a hymn fills the world.
Only you and I,
only you and I, my love,
listen to it.

The power behind the machine is far greater than the machine itself.
