Press Play

I forgot how much I loved this song...
I listen to it over and over and over when i do...
outside of Cassandra's voice being like a balm,
a true Chantuelle, cause her voice is the story...even her breathing seems to Enchant and wrap the words in an other worldly symbolic narration...

The words themselves always intrigued me..

About the burdens of power... about even when this burden is yours .
to make these great decisions for all...
and you accept this decision.. the heart can be weak,
and afraid,
and uncertain... and Seeking Grace...
and direction..
How human is that...? Even Solomon ...who accepted his burden... wanted release...to be Free..
to be loved by his woman and understood
So he sang...

I can actually vizualise this.. I see him in tears....conflicting emotions running through him..
Will no one understand ?? Will you help me find myself... I cannot fail them....this burden is mine... and I will carry it But i am afraid... will no one understand....?
Will I have no comfort?
No balm for my fears...?

I see him singing
throat strained...
arms outstretched..
Singing to his God..
Both praise and supplication..
Weakness and strength...

Solomon Sang...
[sing Obama...sing]

He had silver and gold, Riches untold
And the beast of the field lay at his feet
Everybody bowed He wondered why or how
It all came to be
No one understood his sorrow
No one saw his pain
He way praying for grace
Ravens pray for rain

CHORUS
And when he stood before the altar
Solomon sang
Solomon sang

Wisdom was his calling
Pride sent him falling
Love was blissful misery
When the days grew dim
Life begin again

In the questions of the Queen
Did she understand his sorrow
Did she see his pain
Vanity and precious stones
Weigh you down the same

CHORUS
But when he laid down with Makeda
Solomon sang
Solomon sang

Love for woman
Love for God
Not so simple
Not too hard
For the spirit
Pleasure is sweet
And surrender
Set him free
Free

Set him free

When our time is ended
How will we have spent it
Did we see the beauty in each day
Was it God’s devotion
Behind each emotion
Or did it all just slip away

Can you understand his sorrow
Can you see his pain
Nothing lives forever
But the love that bears your name

CHORUS
And when he stood up in the temple
Solomon sang
Solomon sang
Solomon sang
Solomon sang
